New battery cell technology has the potential chance to make one trip range almost 2000 km on one charge. Scientist from SoLayTec, Fraunhofer (Germany) and TNO work together on a patented nanocoating manufacturing process, called SALD (Spatial Atom Layer Deposition).
“Using of SALD process increase battery capacity in almost three times. As a result, one battery with same size as previous generations can drive more than 1000 km, and even 2000 kilometers if size will be increased,” says CEO of partnered companies, Frank Verhage.
Basically, new technology use coatings with thickness comparable to atoms. This procedure increases working surface area, and capacity as a result.
This technology potential land to EV in 2022, if nothing else happens.
