Electrify America Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger

Installation of Electrify America’s HomeStation

For easy installation, the charger comes with a standard NEMA 14-50 power supply plug, which is compatible with 240-volt outlets commonly found in households.  240-volt outlets are now being installed in most newer homes, but they were often installed in the garage of homes as they are used for appliances and tools.  If you don’t have one in your garage, then you may have to call an electrician.

Homestation Level 2 Charger Installation Guide

If you have the 240-volt then you can install the charger yourself as the installation is simply mounting the charger to the wall.  Use use the template provided by the product and mark out where to drill the holes for the bracket.  Then, mount the bracket onto the wall using the provided template.

If you are hardwiring the charger, make sure to turn off the circuit breaker so there is no power going to the outlet.  Attach the wires to the contacts inside the Electrify America box.  Again, if you are not familiar with electrical wiring, hire an electrician.

Once you have finished wiring the charger, attach the front plate to the main circuit board, snap on the decorative faceplate, and secure it with the set screw at the bottom.  The video below provides a great overview of the installation process.

After everything is closed, turn on the circuit breaker and check that the blue-green light is on, indicating that the charger is ready to be set up. Finally, download the Electrify America app on your phone and follow the prompts to set up the charger.

Smart App Features

The Electrify America app provides the ability to manage your charger remotely at home, which connects to the largest public charging network in the country. The application also features smart charging capabilities, including remote start/stop, push notifications/reminders, scheduled charging, and OTA updates.

Additionally, the HomeStation allows for multi-charger management, with up to 10 chargers connected to one account, and you can use the same account for both home and highway charging. Amazon Alexa voice control and scheduling off-peak charging to lower energy costs are supported.
